Living Proof Restore

Living Proof has launched Restore, a line of hair care products formulated to moisturize and smooth and protect dry, damaged hair. The line features the company’s proprietary Polyfluoroester (INCI: Octafluoropentyl Methacrylate), a molecule that is said to build a protective layer on hair to control hair’s moisture. This layer acts like the natural protective layer on virgin hair, and reduces porosity by 100%, according to the company. The line also is said to increase hair’s resistance to breakage by up to nine times, while healing, protecting and preventing further damage. The line is formulated with a blend of lightweight conditioning agents to smooth and moisturize hair. Currently, the line provides a shampoo, a conditioner and a mask.

Ingredients: Restore Conditioner: Water (aqua) (Solvent), Cetearyl Alcohol (Emulsion Stabilizer, Conditioning Agent), Octafluoropentyl Methacrylate(PolyfluoroEster) (Moisture-Controlling Active), Behentrimonium Chloride (Conditioning Agent), Fragrance (parfum) (Fragrance), Quaternium-87 (Conditioning Agent, Anti-Static Agent), Hydrogenated Castor Oil/Sebacic Acid Copolymer (Cuticle Smoothing Agent), Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride (Conditioning Agent, Anti-Static Agent), Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein (Moisture Balancing Protein), Ceteareth-25 (Emulsifier), Citric Acid (pH Adjuster), Methylchloroisothiazolinone (Preservative), Methylisothiazolinone (Preservative), Limonene (Fragrance Component), Hexyl Cinnamal (Fragrance Component), Linalool (Fragrance Component), Citronellol (Fragrance Component), Butylphenyl Methylpropional (Fragrance Component).

Kitty Bracknell

Say goodbye to Kitty

Monday 14 November 2011

It just goes to show that nothing on X Factor is expected! If that was the case, then it certainly wouldn’t have been Kitty Brucknell and Mischa B fighting to keep their place in the competition last night.

The two were left in the bottom two after the public vote kept in newbie Amelia Lilly and Janet, who many thought may have been in trouble after her ‘boring’ performance.

This was the second time both Mischa and Kitty had found themselves in the bottom two, arguably down to their personalities as opposed to their voices.

Kitty stripped everything back for her survival song. She sung a beautiful rendition of ‘Over the Rainbow’ and blew the audience away with her strong vocals. But Mischa was a keen rival and rocked Jessie J’s track ‘Who You Are.’

Louis was the first to cast his vote, and obviously backed his own act and chose to send Mischa home, but the three other judges opted to send Kitty (and Louis last act) home.

Tulisa said: ‘I think you are both amazingly talented… but I would rather buy Misha’s albums.’

Gary said: ‘Can I just say first, what an amazing sing-off.

‘If you were to ask me two people who wanted this the most, it would be Misha and Kitty.

‘Kitty, it’s got to be the likeability factor, because you sing and perform incredibly. Misha, if I took all the acts to a record label, you would be the first to be signed. The act I’m sending home is Kitty.’

Before the end of the show, Louis gushed: ‘She’s one of the best people I’ve ever mentored. I want someone to sign her.’

And in true Kitty style, she opted for a song as her last words.

As host Dermot O’Leary asked her for her final statement, she sang Lady Gaga’s Born This Way: ‘I’m beautiful in my way, ’cause God makes no mistakes. I’m on the right track baby, I was born this way.’

Do you think the best person went home?

TRI-K Industries Inc. has introduced a line of micronized titanium dioxide and zinc oxide inorganic UV filters.TRIshield is said to allow formulators to create high SPF and broad spectrum sunscreen formulations.

The line of titanium dioxide (TRIshield T-110 (INCI: Titanium Dioxide (and) Aluminum Hydroxide (and) Stearic Acid), TRIshield T-150 (INCI: Titanium Dioxide (and) Aluminum Hydroxide (and) Stearic Acid), TRIshield TW-210 (INCI: Titanium Dioxide (and) Silica) and TRIshield TS-510 (INCI: Titanium Dioxide (and) Aluminum Hydroxide (and) Methicone)) has a variety of coating technologies allowing performance and stability in multiple types of formulations including natural claims. All the titanium dioxide UV filters are hydrophobic, with the exception of TW-210. They are recommended for both sun care and skin care, and TS-510’s positioning for formulations with high levels of silicones allows it to also be formulated into makeup.

The zinc oxide line (TRIshield Z-500, TRIshield Z-400 and TRIshield Z-250 (INCIs: Zinc Oxide) are non-nano, offer transparency and have compatibility with organic sunscreens for high SPF formulas. All the zinc oxide ingredients are hydrophilic. While Z-400 offers good transparency, Z-250 is said to offer excellent transparancy. All three zinc oxide ingredients are suitable for natural formulations and meet USP requirements.

The line of UV filters is recommended up to 25%.

Hillary Fry, AKA Solessence, shows us how to do easy glitter nails that look out of this world. This tutorial uses four different glitters, from near-dust particles to hexagonal holo discs to show how you can vamp up a look with little time added to a service. Fry says, “While it may seem redundant to use microfine and ultrafine glitter, it is about the details. On the nail, the microfine adds a sheer base, almost looking like milkyway gases among stars. Experiment with layers to find your favorite looks.” Watch more of Fry’s videos at
